Jon Skovron is an author of fantasy novels for adults and teens. He lives just outside Washington DC with his two sons.

As usual, I suck at remembering to take pictures. Most of these were taken because someone else was taking a picture and I just threw my phone at them or, as in the case with my publicist Jason Wells, I was just trying to be annoying.

Susan Van Metre was recently promoted from mere publisher of the Amulet imprint to Publishing Overlord of All Abrams Imprints! Don’t let that sweet face fool you. She is utterly mad with power.

Amy Igantow is the author/illustrator of The Popularity Papers. Think Diary of a Wimpy Kid for girls.

The 10ers are a group of YA authors with debut books in 2010, including my friends Holly Cupala, author of Tell Me a Secret and Amy Brecount White, author of Forget-Her-Nots.

Tamar Brazis is the editor at Abrams who specializes in non-fiction music books (she knows Thurston Moore!!!). With her is Laura Numeroff, who, if you have small children, probably needs no introduction. She is the author of If You Give A Mouse A Cookie, If You Give A Pig A Pancake, and the SkovBros favorite, If You Give A Moose A Muffin.

Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl are the authors of the bestselling Beautiful Creatures and long time online friends that I finally got to meet in real life.

Erica Pearl’s Chicken Butt needs no introduction, I think.

Some other exciting events not captured on camera:

  • My signing

  • Thanking Cory Doctorow in real life for his flattering review of Struts & Frets on Boing Boing

  • Gushing to Holly Black about how awesome she is without coming off like a complete tool (unlike last time…)

  • Listening to Cherie Priest talk about the joys of Steampunk and zombies.

  • Hanging out at various points with Malinda Lo, Diana Peterfreund, L.K. Madigan, Pam Bachorz, Danielle Joseph, Barry Lyga, Daniel Nayeri, and the outrageous Heidi R. Kling.

  • Chatting (far too briefly!) with Natalie Standiford, David Levithan, Maggie Stiefvater, Libba Bray, and so many other talented and amazing people.

  • Librarians, librarians, librarians! What better company could an author want, really?

Whew. What a weekend! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’d better get back to some writing so I have a reason to keep going to these things!
